In short: is the Backlink Checker lifetime deal worth it?
Backlink Checker is a backlink monitoring tool sold as a lifetime deal on AppSumo from $69, against a Starter plan the founder prices at $15 a month, so the deal pays for itself in about five months. Plan 1 crawls 250 backlinks a month across five domains, a tenth of what Starter allows. It suits link builders who need to know when a placement disappears. The founder was still answering questions on the listing in August 2026.
Is it worth it at $69?
Read off the plans, the founder's own posting history and the terms the sale site states
For watching links you already have, yes, provided you read the entry tier as what it is. The licence clears in about five months against the founder's own Starter plan, which is the longest payback of the deals listed here and still a short one.
The catch is that Plan 1 is not equal to Starter. It is roughly a tenth of it, and the gap is the main thing this page exists to say.
What follows is a read of the sale page, the licence terms, the founder's answers on the listing and the published rating record, checked on 14 September 2026. Nobody here ran the software.
- The cheapest tier is smaller than the cheapest paid plan, not equal to it. Plan 1 covers 250 backlinks a month and 5 domains against Starter's 2,500 and 20. Plan 2 at $138 is the one that matches it.
- Backlink discovery, the backlink indexer and the site indexer are separate paid add-ons at $19, $19 and $9 a month, and the founder has confirmed that discovery is not part of the lifetime deal.
What you actually get
Plan 1 crawls 250 backlinks a month across 5 tracked domains. The $15 Starter plan crawls 2,500 across 20.
So the payback figure compares a licence against a subscription ten times its size. Read honestly, Plan 1 costs about four and a half months of Starter and delivers a tenth of Starter's throughput, and the tier that actually matches Starter is Plan 2, which is roughly nine months of it.
That is still a reasonable purchase for someone monitoring a modest link profile permanently. It is a bad purchase for anyone who read the break-even and assumed parity. Count your links first: 250 a month is a profile of a few hundred links rechecked monthly, not a few thousand.
What the name implies and the tool does not do is find links. The founder sells backlink discovery, a backlink indexer and a site indexer as separate add-ons at $19, $19 and $9 a month, and has confirmed on the listing that discovery is not part of the lifetime deal. What you are buying watches a list you give it and tells you when a link disappears, when its anchor text or its no-follow setting changes, and whether Google has indexed it.

Which tier to buy
Buy Plan 1 if you earn or place links, you have a few hundred of them across up to five sites, and a permanent price is fair for knowing within a month when one has been removed.
Buy Plan 2 if you want the throughput the $15 plan actually provides, or if you track more than five domains.
Walk if you need to find links rather than watch them. For the finding half, The Link Chest by SEO Buddy Lifetime Deal is a one-off list of vetted opportunities, and Respona Lifetime Deal runs the outreach that turns an opportunity into a placement. This deal is the third step after both of them.

Terms can change while a sale is running. The AppSumo deal terms are the version that binds.
Crawl speed is what the old complaints are about, and it is the one thing you can check on day one. Load a real list of your own links, not a handful, and see how long a full pass takes and whether the index status comes back correct against what Search Console tells you. Sixty days of refund window is generous for a test that takes an afternoon.
"Lifetime" means the life of the product, not yours — here is what to check before you buy.
What buyers reported
AppSumo shows 4.6 from 30 reviews. That is their number, not ours.
Backlink Checker averages 4.63 across 30 ratings: 27 at five stars, one at two and two at one, so three buyers sit at two stars or below. On 30 ratings that is one in ten, a higher share than most deals here, and small enough that the individual reviews matter more than the proportion.
The dates are the useful part. The two one star reviews are from June 2024 and June 2025 and the two star from November 2024. They describe a poor interface, slow crawling, a backlink finder that did not work, and a domain limit error on an account that was within its limits. The founder replied to every one of them, by name, and in the limit case reset the account.
The most recent review in the sample, from April 2026, is positive and specifically about the thing the tool is for: it removes the manual work of checking whether links are still live and indexed. The founder was still answering the listing in August 2026.
Read as a sequence rather than an average, that is a small product with a rough early stretch, a founder who answers, and a recent record that is quieter. The sample is five of thirty and chosen by the platform, so it cannot support more than that.

Both halves worked out from the limits and terms above, not from who the founder says it is for
Worth buying if you are
- Link builders who buy or earn placements and need to know when one vanishes
- Agencies reporting link retention to clients on a public shareable page
Not worth buying for
- Anyone who needs backlink discovery, which is a separate $19 a month add-on that the founder has confirmed is not part of this deal
- Agencies tracking more than five domains, because Plan 1 stops there and matching the $15 Starter plan means Plan 2 at $138

Common questions about the Backlink Checker deal
Which paid plan is the price compared against?
The $15 a month Starter plan, the cheapest the founder sells. Plan 1 is smaller than Starter on both limits that matter, so five months understates the gap.
Is anyone still working on this?
The founder answers questions on the sale page, most recently in August 2026, and fixed an outage in June 2026. Whether any feature has shipped in that time is not something this listing shows: the sale site keeps founder announcements behind a tab that is not part of the page we read.
Does this find backlinks or only watch them?
Only watch them. It monitors a list you supply and reports removals, anchor text and no-follow changes and index status. Backlink discovery is a separate add-on at $19 a month and the founder has confirmed it is not part of the lifetime deal.
How many backlinks does each tier crawl?
250 a month across 5 domains on Plan 1, 2,500 across 20 on Plan 2, 4,000 across 35 on Plan 3 and 6,500 across 60 on Plan 4.
Which tier matches the plan the price is compared against?
Plan 2. The $15 Starter plan crawls 2,500 backlinks across 20 domains, which is what Plan 2 provides; Plan 1 is roughly a tenth of that throughput.
